Institution Notes:
A private non-sectarian university established in 1878 as the Georgia Baptist Female Seminary. It is now co-educational and gained its current name and status in 1992. The University operates on several campuses and also incorporates a women’s college. Music courses are offered through the university's department of music or the women's college.
