Institution Notes:

A state-supported university with a strong cosmopolitan outlook. It was founded in 1965 and opened for classes in 1972. The Department of Music is housed in the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts with a number of fine performing spaces, a state-of-the-art electronic music studio, instrumental and choral rehearsal halls and the Wertheim Concert Hall with a 74-rank Schantz organ. Opera studios and workshops are housed in another facility on campus. There is a collection of early instruments used by the Collegium Musicum, an ensemble of students, faculty and community members devoted to the study and performance of the music literature of the pre-classical eras. The Gottlieb collection of outdoor sculpture is located on campus. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
