Institution Notes:

The University was founded in 1972. The Department of Music is housed in the Fine Arts Center with a number of fine performance spaces and well-equipped technology studios. It places strong emphasis on American music, (classical and jazz). The department runs an African-American Heritage Program which includes performance, with a festival and summer seminar for teachers. The library has a significant collection of jazz compact discs. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
