Institution Notes:
The University was formerly known as the Bruckner Conservatorium. Originally founded in 1823, it gained its current name and status in 2004 and in 2015 it moved into a brand-new building enabling its three divisions of music (classical and jazz), drama and dance to be offered in a single location. There is an Academy for Early Music and Historical Performance Practice which offers studies in historically informed performance of the 16th to 18th centuries. The Institute for Jazz and Improvised Music covers training in all aspects of jazz styles. The Voice and Music Theatre Institute has close links to the local opera companies. There is a preparatory program for those wishing to prepare for entry to its professional music programs. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
