Institution Notes:
The conservatorium was founded in 1828. Formerly known as the Kärntner Laneskonservatorium, (Carinthian State Conservatory), since 2019 it has continued its activities as a private institution with the name Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik. It has close links with Alpen Adria University and the Carinthian Opera. The Conservatorium runs a preparatory program for talented children and offers music programs for members of the local community. There is a well-equipped recording studio. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
