Institution Notes:
The Universidad Nacional de las Artes was formally established in 1996 with the incorporation of a number of Institutes offering programs in various branches of the arts. There are programs in music, visual arts, movement, folklore, theatre, multimedia and education for teaching the arts. Music is taught through the Department of Music and Sound Arts. Workshops and extension courses are offered to students and members of the community in various music activities.
