The Joseph Haydn Konservatorium des Landes Burgenland was established in 1971, being both the most easterly and the smallest of the national conservatories in Austria. It is situated just across the road from the park of the Palace of Esterházy. In co-operation with the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna the program in instrumental and vocal education enables students to become fully registered teachers. There is a junior program offering music training to children at both primary and secondary school level. The Conservatorium offers several shorter courses in such areas as early instruments, band conducting, accompanying for music theatre as well as lessons to young people through its Junior Academy. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
