Bachelor of Arts in Music. Four years. Major studies in performance, composition, music history, theory, ethnomusicology.
Institution Notes:
A private, liberal arts college for women, founded in 1926. Member of the Claremont Colleges consortium which includes Pomona College, Pitzer College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences and the University of Claremont Graduate School, most of them providing programs in music available to all enrolled students of each college. Individual performance lessons and a number of Joint Music Program ensembles are provided. Cross-registration is free, with each college sharing libraries and other facilities. All graduate programs are taken at the Claremont Graduate University. Scripps College's Performing Arts Center, opened in 2003, houses some fine performance spaces and a well-equipped computer music laboratory.
