Institution Notes:
A state-supported university, originally founded in 1896 as the Alabama Girls’ Industrial School. It became co-educational in 1956 and gained its current name and status in 1969. The Department of Music is an All-Steinway School. The music department organises a community School of Music offering music tuition to young people and interested members of the local community. It also holds an annual summer Kodály Workshop. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
