Institution Notes:

A private university supported by the Alabama Baptist Convention. It was founded in 1841 as Howard College and gained its current name and status in 1965. The School of the Arts offers programs in visual arts, music and theatre. The music school is located in the John H Buchanan Hall and offers an Orff Schulwerk summer program and an opera workshop. The music library holds a significant collection of hymnals. A preparatory program provides instruction for pre-college students wishing to learn an instrument.
