Profesorado de Educacion Superior en Musica. Four years. Studies include performance (classical, popular, banoneón), choral conducting, music history, theory, teaching of the instrument, music technology.


Institution Notes:

Founded in 1924 as the Conservatory Nacional, the institution was divided in 1989 into two levels: • higher level, transformed into the National University of Arts, and • middle level, assigned to the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires and in 2000 was named the Conservatory de Musica de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires 'Astor Piazzolla'. This is a non-university institution run by the government of the city of Buenos Aires offering music training at tertiary levels. A two-year preparatory course is available for young children from age 10 and a two-year 'Cicio initial' is offered to children from age 12; both programs earn certificates of completion.
