Bachelor of Arts in Music. Four years. Studies in performance, music history, theory, aural skills. A major in songwriting is offered. Bachelor of Musical Arts. Four years. Music combined with psychology, sound and media, business, American music. Bachelor of Music Education. Four years. Studies include choral and instrumental conducting, pedagogy.
Institution Notes:
A private liberal arts college founded in 1856 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The music department is housed in the James Blaine Hill Music Building. Facilities include a group of technology-based studios and a state-of-the-art recording studio. The Shugerman collection of LP and CD recordings dating from 1950 to 1992 is held in the library. There is an active opera program. Composition is a very popular and strong degree in the music department. A Conservatory of Fine and Performing Arts is associated with the music department, and provides music training for children and interested adults. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
