The Conservatorio can trace its history back over 200 years and gained its current name and status in 1999. It offers preparatory programs to students wishing to enter the professional program. An attached secondary school provides music programs to its students. In addition to the professional programs the Conservatorio offers music tuition to children and interested members of the local community. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
