Formerly known as The University of Ballarat, in 2013 this university merged with the Gippsland campus of Monash University to form Federation University. The Faculty of Education and Arts comprises four Schools: School of Education and Arts (Ballarat) and three schools from the former Monash Gippsland campus in Churchill - the School of Applied Media and Social Sciences, the School of Education, and the Centre for Art and Design. The School of Education and Arts operates from three campuses in the Ballarat area, with provincial branches in Horsham, Ararat, Stawell, Berwick and Churchill (Gippsland), in partnership with TAFE institutes and community education providers. The Arts Academy is housed in the visual, graphic and performing arts precinct in the centre of Ballarat.
