Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts. Four years. Concentrations in voice performance, Irish traditional music, world music. All programs include some keyboard performance, dance and music theory.
Master of Arts. In performance (classical strings, traditional Irish music), ritual chant and song (in association with Glenstal Abbey, a Benedictine monastery), research, composition and creative music practice, songwriting, community music, ethnomusicology, Irish music studies, music education, event management, music therapy. Doctor of Philosophy.
Certificate in Music and Dance. One year. May lead into a Bachelor of Arts in music or dance.
The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance (formerly known as the Irish World Music Centre) is housed at the University of Limerick and was set up in 1994, allowing for the co-existence of academic and performance programs at the University. It is involved with community outreach, concerts, seminars, artists in residence and organises a summer school.
