Escuela de Blues. A three-year program for young people and adults. Studies in performance, history of blues, theory of blues music. Escuela de Tango. A program for young people and adults. Studies include performance, history of the tango, ensemble participation.


Institution Notes:

The Collegium Musicum was founded in 1946. It is a private not-for-profit music school providing music programs for young children and adults, incorporating programs in recorder playing, choral groups, chamber music groups, Dalcroze movement, Orff Schulwerk, Suzuki programs in piano, violin and 'cello for young children and music activities for the elderly. It also comprises an Escuela de Blues, Escuela de Folklore and Escuela de Tango. Scholarships are offered to school children of low-income families of school children in deprived areas and to youth with developmental problems under agreements with the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Collegium offers teacher training to interested persons as well as classes in music therapy for handicapped children and adults. The Centre (CIEM) organises courses, conferences and seminars on music education research. It issues the Bulletin of Research in Music Education (Boletin de Investigación Educative-Musical) three times a year. It houses the José A Gallo music library. A second campus 'Manuel Dorrego' is in Saavedra at Besares 2990, Buenos Aires.
